Introduction and History in Brief
Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple situated in Jaipur is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple situated in a village named Tarkeshwar hence the temple is known as Tarkeshwar Mahadev Mandir. The temple is surrounded by pine and cedar forest gives a great view to the temple. The temple is one of the ancient temples of the Pink City. The Tarkeshwar Ji Mandir was constructed in 1758 A. D. The shiva ling is made of black stone which is about a diameter of 9. The temple has giant gongs which weighs about 125 kilograms each. The temple also houses the idol of Lord Ganesha, the idol of the deity has a left turned trunk which is an major attraction of the temple. The temple celebrates festivals like Mahashivratri, Ganesh Chaturti with great pomp and enthusiasm. Devotees flock to Sri Tarkeswar Ji Mandir to seek blessings of the deity.

- The temple is 6-km distant from Jaipur. Jaipur International Airport is the nearest airport and the Gandhi Nagar, nearest railway station.
- The Sanganer Airport is the nearest domestic and international airbase to Jaipur. The airport has one terminal, namely Terminal 2 that serves both domestic and international carriers. Carriers such as Air Asia India, Air India, GoAir, SpiceJet, IndiGo and Jet Airways operate regular flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai for Jaipur. International airlines like Air Arabia, Air-India Express, Ethihad Airways and Oman Air have flights for Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat. After reaching the airport, travellers can hire a taxi or cab to reach anywhere in the city.
- One of the most easy and reasonable ways of reaching Jaipur is by bus. The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) provides regular Volvo and deluxe buses between Jaipur and neighbouring cities. Buses link Jaipur with several cities like Kota (257 km), Delhi (296 km), Udaipur (410 km), Ahmedabad (675 km) and Ajmer (135 km). Those driving from Delhi can reach Jaipur in about 5 to 6 hours, via NH 8 route.
- The beautiful city has its own railhead, Jaipur Railway Station, which is well linked with major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Patna, Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Bhopal, Lucknow, Hyderabad and Goa, among others. Some of the prominent trains from Delhi to Jaipur include, Ajmer Shatabdi and Kathgodam Ranikhet Express. Apart from this, visitors must also try the very famous luxury train, Palace on Wheels.
