Introduction and History
There Are Many Such Deities In The City Of Mahakal in Ujjain. Bhang Is Offered To Mahakal Every Day, While Kalbhairav Drinks Several Liters Of Liquor Throughout The Day. There Is Also A Devi Temple In This City, Where On The Day Of Maha Ashtami Of Navratri, The Collector Himself Drinks Alcohol With His Own Hands, After Which This Bhog Is Offered To All The Gods And Goddesses Under City Worship.
One Of The 51 Shaktipeeths Of Mata Is Such A Miraculous Shaktipeeth Where It Is Believed That Every Wish Is Fulfilled By Putting A Lamp On The Pillar Here. The Lamp Pillars Were Installed In This Temple By King Vikramaditya. If Estimated, The Lamp Pillars Are More Than 2 Thousand Years Old. Because The History Of King Vikramaditya Is Also About 2 Thousand Years Old. The Elbow Of Goddess Sati Had Fallen At This Place, After Which The Shaktipeeth Was Established Here. The Center Of Attraction Of The People In The Temple Are The 2 Lamp Pillars Present In The Courtyard. These Pillars Are About 51 Feet High, There Are About 1 Thousand 11 Lamps In Both The Lamp Pillars. It Is Said That It Is Very Difficult To Light A Lamp On These Pillars.
This Amazing Shaktipeeth Is Famous As Harsiddhi Temple In Ujjain District Of Madhya Pradesh. By The Way, There Is A Crowd Of Devotees Here All The Time. But During Navratri And Especially On The Occasion Of Ashwin Navratri, Many Religious Events Are Held Here. There Is A Joyful Atmosphere In The Night Aarti. That Is Why A Lot Of Enthusiasm Is Seen Here On The Festival Of Navratri. The Temple Is Situated At A Short Distance From The Mahakal Temple. Special Worship Is Done On The Occasion Of Special Festivals In The Sanctum Sanctorum After The Deception Of The Harsiddhi Temple Is Closed During The Night. The Tantric Significance Of This Worship Performed With Srisukta And Vedokta Mantras Is Immense. To Fulfill The Wishes Of The Devotees, Worship Is Also Done Here On Special Dates.
Booking Has To Be Done In Advance To Light The Lamp On The Pillars
According To Beliefs, Not Every Person Gets The Good Fortune Of Lighting A Lamp, It Is Said That Whoever Gets This Opportunity Is Considered Very Lucky. At The Same Time, The Priest Of The Temple Says That While Lighting The Pillar Lamp, His Wish Is Fulfilled When He Speaks. For This Lamp Pillar Of Harsiddhi Temple, First Booking Is Done In Harsiddhi Temple Management Committee. Whenever Any Major Festivals Come Like- Shivratri, Chaitra And Shardiya Navratri, Dhanteras And Deepawali, Booking Of Lighting Lamp Pillars Is Done By The Devotees A Year In Advance. Sometimes The Turn Of The Devotees Does Not Come For Months. In Earlier Times, Lamp Pillars Were Lit Only On The Ashtami Date Of Chaitra And Shardiya Navratri And Major Festivals, But Now These Lamp Pillars Are Lit Every Day
King Vikramaditya Of Ujjain Was A Great Devotee Of Mata Harsiddhi. It Is Said That Once In Every 12 Years, He Used To Offer His Head At The Feet Of The Mother, But Due To The Miracle And Grace Of The Mother, The King’s Head Was Found Again. But After That, When He Offered His Head For The Twelfth Time, He Never Came Back. Because Of This His Life Ended. Even Today, 11 Vermilion Rungs Are Lying In One Corner Of The Temple. It Is Said That These Are Their Severed Heads.
Now The Lamp Pillars Are Lit Everyday
The Joshi Family Of Ujjain Has Been Lighting These Lamp Pillars For Almost 100 Years. It Takes About 4 Kg Of Cotton Wick And 60 Liters Of Oil To Light Both The Lamp Pillars At Once. These Lamp Pillars Are Also Cleaned From Time To Time. Awadhesh Joshi, Manager Of Harsiddhi Temple Management Committee, Said That Earlier, Lamp Pillars Were Lit Only In Navratri And On Some Major Festivals, But For The Last Few Years These Lamp Pillars Are Lit Every Day With The Help Of Devotees.
