Although there are lakhs of Hanuman temples in the country and abroad, but some of them have a reputation as Siddh Dham. These include the Samod Veer Hanuman Temple of Rajasthan. This famous temple of Veer Hanumanji is situated at a distance of 43 km from the state capital Jaipur. This temple is one of the most important religious places of Rajasthan. This old temple is situated on the Samod mountain in village Nangal Bharda of Chaumu tehsil.
The temple of Samod Veer Hanumanji is known for its uniqueness. About 1100 steps have to be climbed to see Hanuman ji situated on the mountain peak. The strange thing is that no one has been able to tell completely how many stairs are there till date. The devotees of Hanumanji come here from far and wide to see him and get blessings by worshiping him. There is also arrangement for the devotees to stay here.
This temple was built by Sitaramji, Veer Hanuman Trust Samod. The story behind the construction of Hanuman temple is amazing. It is believed that Hanumanji himself had expressed his wish through Akashvani to be established here. According to Devi Singh Meena, a resident of Samod, about 600 years ago, Sant Nagandas and his disciple Laldas came to the Samod mountain to do penance. It is said that one day during penance, Saint Nagandas heard Akashvani – I will appear here in the form of Veer Hanuman. At the same time, he also had a vision of Hanuman on the rock of the hill. After the sight of Akashvani and Hanumanji, Sant Nagandas got absorbed in the worship of Hanuman. He started giving the shape of the idol of Hanumanji to the rock on which he had received Hanumanji’s darshan. Later the temple was built. Earlier, the devotees used to come to visit from the inaccessible paths of the hill, now a ropeway has also been installed for their convenience.
