Introduction and History in Brief

The 200 years old Ganesha Temple located in Sudi Karnataka. This temple is believed to have been built around 1800.

it is a square building, Even the normally octagonal shikara has a square shape.

It was an beautiful double storey building with beautiful entrance and Ancient Ganehsa Statues, landscape views with its historic beauty.

According to legend, this is the temple where Ganesha was placed as door keeper by Parvati, not allowing anyone to enter the premises without her permission. This is the place where Shiva cut the head of Ganesha and gave him elephant head.

The image of the Ganpati has four arms holding four objects in the hands. His mount (vihana) mouse is also carved on the left leg,

People living around the temple in Muslim dominated area are the Sikhs and Hindus have not damaged this temple but local Muslim ghoons doned. One of the Hindu group is still taking and carrying the renovation of the sculptures of temple paintings on the temple’s entrance gate. The inscriptions bearing the names of the Hindus are still there.

As a Temple concern, The morning and evening Prayers time of Tuesday and Saturday are the moments when the temple is always full of devotees.

Visitors and devotees can see many statues of holy deities like LORD BRAHMA, LORD SHIVA, LORD VISHNU AND MAA DURGA.

Devotees used to come to pray to Lord Ram, Maa Sita ,Laxmanji and Hanumanji also.

Apart from structural beauty the Temple has got a literally Shining environment with neat-clean conditions and hygiene protocols.

The environment is totally full of Spirituality and Peace.

  • Nearest Railway Stations to Sudi Sudi Karnataka Gadag
  • The nearest airport is Hubli about 100 kilometres away. It is east of Hubli-Sholapur rail route, and the rail station (Mallapur) is 25 kilometres from the town. It is also connected by road to Hubli and Gadag. Sudi is reachable from Bangalore by a 12-hour bus ride, or with a combination of an overnight train journey from Bangalore to Ron followed by a short bus ride from Ron to Sudi.
  • Sudi, is a panchayat town in the Gadag District of Karnataka, India. It is about 30 km from Badami, 12 km from Gajendragad and 4 to 8kms from Itagi Bhimambika temple. In the past it was an important town of the Kalyani Chalukyas during 1000 AD. It is notable for rare stone carved monuments like Twin towered temple, Mallikarjuna temple and nagakunda (large well built of stone and carvings), and few other structural temples. For long time these structures were abandoned, but recently they caught the eye of the Indian Archaeological Department (ASI – Archaeological Survey of India).
