Introduction and History
The Dakshin Kaali Mandir is dedicated to Hindu Goddess Kali, the Dakshinkali Temple is a sacred place for Hindus where animals like cockerels and uncastrated goats are sacrificed for the fulfillment of wishes and well-being of the family.
Maa Kali’s earliest appearance is that of a destroyer of evil forces. She is the most powerful form of Shakti and the goddess of one of the four subcategories of the Kulamārga, a category of Tantric Saivism. She destroys the evil in order to protect the innocent. Over time, Kali has been worshipped by devotional movements and tantric sects variously as the Divine Mother, Mother of the Universe, Adi Shakti or Parvati. Shakta Hindu and Tantric sects additionally worship her as the ultimate reality or Brahman. She is also seen as the divine protector and the one who bestows moksha or liberation.Kali is often portrayed standing or dancing on her consort, the Hindu god Shiva, who lies calm and prostrate beneath her. Kali is worshipped by Hindus throughout India and Nepal.
Hugh Urban notes that although the word Kālī appears as early as the Atharva Veda, the first use of it as a proper name is in the Kathaka Grhya Sutra (19.7). Kali appears in the Mundaka Upanishad (section 1, chapter 2, verse 4) not explicitly as a goddess, but as the dark blue tongue of the seven flickering tongues of Agni, the Hindu god of fire.
These rituals are usually carried out on Tuesday and Saturday, though the best time to observe these rituals is the Dashain Festival, which generally falls in October. During the festivities, Dakshinkali temple is beautifully decorated, a large number of stalls selling different kinds of things are set up, and thousands of worshippers attend the festival and take part in the extravagant rituals. Cameras are allowed inside the temple.

Located at a distance of around 10 km to the outsite of Kathmandu city in its eastern part on the banks of the Bagmati River, this temple can also be visited via bus from Indian cities like Gorakhpur or Varanasi, which are located close to the Nepalese border, Sunauli. It takes around 30 hours by bus to complete the journey. Apart from that,
