Introduction and History
The Shrine is dedicated to Maa Arbuda Devi .
This clifftop temple made of rock has its shrine inside a cave & is accessed by 365 steep stairs.
There Are 51 Shaktipeeths Of Mother In India And All Shaktipeeths Have Their Own Importance. One Of These Shaktipeeths Is The Arbuda Devi Temple. Arbuda Devi Temple Is Known As Adhar Devi Shaktipeeth. The Temple Is 3 Km From Mount Abu In Rajasthan. It Is Situated On A Hill In The Distance. It Is Believed That The Lips Of Goddess Parvati Had Fallen Here, Hence The Shaktipeeth Was Established Here. Here Maa Arbuda Devi Is Worshiped As Mata Katyayani Devi Because Arbuda Devi Is Said To Be A Form Of Maa Katyayani. Although There Is A Crowd Of Devotees Throughout The Year, But During Navratri, There Is An Influx Of Devotees. Where Is It That Devotees Get Salvation Only By Seeing The Goddess Here.
According To The Beliefs, The Lips Of Mother Parvati Fell At This Place. Since Then This Place Is Known As Adhar Devi. Devotees Travel Hundreds Of Meters Here To See The Mother By Climbing About 350 Steps. This Temple Is Enshrined In A Natural Cave. The Lamp Keeps On Burning Continuously Inside The Cave And With Its Light One Can See Bhagwati. At The Same Time, The Temple Was Established Five And A Half Thousand Years Ago. It Is Believed That Just By The Sight Of The Mother, A Person Gets Freedom From All Sorrows And The Devotees Attain Salvation. The Charan Paduka Temple Of Arbuda Devi Is Also Located In The Temple. He Killed The Demon Basakali Under The Feet Of The Mother. The Story Of The Basakali Slaughter Of Mother Katyayani Is Found In The Puranas.
According To Legend, The Demon King Kali Who Was Known As Basakali. After Doing Penance For Thousands Of Years, He Pleased Bholenath And Obtained The Boon Of Being Invincible From Him. Basalki Became Arrogant After Receiving The Boon. He Captured All The Gods Including Indra In Devlok. The Deities Hid In The Forests, Saddened By His Terror. The Deities Pleased Mother Arbuda Devi By Doing Penance For Many Years. The Mother Was Pleased And Appeared In Three Forms. The Gods Asked The Mother For A Boon To Get Rid Of Basakali. Mother Called Him Aastu. Mother Killed The Demon Basakali By Pressing Her With Her Feet. Since Then, The Worship Of The Foot Paduka Of The Mother Started Here.
Visitors can see other deities Statues here like Shiv Bhagwan, Lord Ganesha, Lord Ram – Maa Siiya, Shera wali Maa, Durga Maa and Krishna ji also.
Apart from structural beauty the Temple have got literally Shining environment with neat-clean conditions and hygiene protocols.

How to Reach Mount Abu by Air
Udaipur Airport serves as the nearest airport to Mount Abu. Daily direct flights from Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Mumbai are available till Udaipur. Stopover flights from other Indian cities can be availed to reach Udaipur or direct flights can be availed till Ahmedabad. From Udaipur and Ahmedabad, local taxis are available for Mount Abu.
How to Reach Mount Abu by Rail
Abu Road railway station, located around 25 km away, serves the hill town of Mount Abu. Good number of trains connect Mount Abu with major Indian cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mumbai etc. to name a few. Visitors can hire private or shared taxis from outside the station for reaching the town.
How to Reach Mount Abu by Road
Many state transport and private buses operate from nearby cities of Mount Abu. Daily direct bus service to the hill station is available from Udaipur, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Baroda. Depending on budget, passengers can avail AC, deluxe or semi-deluxe buses.
The nearest domestic airport to Mount Abu is located at Udaipur at a distance of 210 km while the nearest international airport is located at Ahmedabad. The domestic airport is connected to major Indian cities like Delhi, Jaipur and Mumbai. Taxis can be availed from the airport to reach Mount Abu conveniently.
Abu Road railway station is the nearest railhead to Mount Abu that lies on the lines between Delhi and Mumbai. This station connects Mount Abu to the major railheads.
Frequent buses run by the State government connect Mount Abu to all the major neighboring cities. Private buses connect Mount Abu to the cities like Jaipur (475 km), Udaipur (167 km), Delhi (734 km) and Jaisalmer (406 km). So, how to reach Mount Abu is not a tough task.
