Introduction and History in Brief

Dedicated to Hindu Goddess Mathiya, the Mathiya Devi Temple is Devi temple located at Farrukhabad,Uttar Pradesh.

The eternal flame of the mother has been burning for 19 years in the ancient Mathia Devi temple in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh. Devotees seek blessings after seeing the light. There is a huge crowd in the temples. Devotees are busy in celebrating Maya by reaching the temples since morning. The chants of Goddess Maiya are reverberating in the city.

In Chaitra Navratri, the mother is invoked by performing Havan in the Goddess temples. The Mathia Devi temple located on the railway road is quite old. A fair is held here during Navratri. Devotees did their gratitude by offering sacrifices in the havan. Discharging the old tradition, the Havan was organized at the city’s oldest Mathia Devi temple.

Akhand Jyoti is burning in Mathia Devi temple for 19 years. The priest says that in the year 1999, the Akhand Jyoti was lit in a cupboard built near the Maa Mangala Mata idol installed inside the temple. Since then this eternal flame is burning continuously day and night. All the devotees are cooperating in lighting the Akhand Jyoti. He said that those who seek blessings after seeing the eternal flame, their wishes are definitely fulfilled. On Navratri, the crowd gathers to see the Akhand Jyoti burning in the temple.

It is worth noting that because of being in the middle of the road, the British had made every effort to remove the temple, then various kinds of calamities started falling on the British. After which the British left it and left. Devotees say that if they come here every day and offer prayers to the mother, then her wishes are definitely fulfilled.
